We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy works together with our Terms and Conditions.

This policy explains how Contractors Contacts (ABN 17 056 040 513) ("we", "us", "our") handles your personal information. e-contract.com.au is our website address. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. What we collect

Depending on how you use this website, we may collect, including but not limited to:

• Identity and contact details - name, email, phone number, business name.
• Account details - username, password (stored hashed), profile information, photo.
• Business and credential details - your ABN, and any licences, tickets, qualifications or insurance details (including expiry dates) you choose to record. These are entered by you and are not independently verified by us (see the Terms, section 9).
• Location details - the address, suburb or region you enter, and map coordinates derived from it, used for distance-based search so members can find work and workers near them.
• Activity data - jobs posted and responded to, messages, contacts, the job details and records you enter, reviews or ratings if and when offered, and how you use this website.
• Acceptance records - the date and version of the Terms you accept, recorded against your account.
• Technical data - IP address, device and browser type, and (if used) cookies and analytics data.

We collect personal information directly from you, and automatically as you use this website.

3. Why we collect and use it

We use personal information to, including but not limited to:

• create and manage your account and profile;
• display your ads and profile to other members, according to your settings;
• let members find and contact each other, including distance-based search using your location details;
• operate, secure, support and improve this website;
• run any automated convenience check we may offer (such as an ABN lookup) - accurate only at the moment it is run, and not a guarantee of anything;
• send reminders or notifications, where such features are offered;
• communicate with you about the service;
• send marketing only where you have consented - you can unsubscribe at any time (Spam Act 2003 (Cth));
• comply with our legal obligations.

We only use your information for the purposes it was collected for, related purposes you would reasonably expect, or as required by law.

4. What other members can see

• Your public profile shows the information you choose to make public. What you set to public is visible to other logged-in members, and may be remembered or copied by any member who sees it - we cannot retrieve information other members have already seen.
• Your email address is kept private and is not shown to other members.
• Your phone number is private by default. If you keep it private, it is only disclosed to another member after a job has been accepted by both parties. If you set it to public, it is visible to any logged-in member on your profile so they can contact you directly. You can change this at any time. Numbers are never shown to logged-out visitors.
• We may show limited, non-identifying information on pages visible to people who are not logged in (for example, that jobs of a certain type exist in a certain region).

5. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with, including but not limited to:

• other members, as described above and as needed for members to find and contact each other;
• service providers who help us run this website (for example hosting, email and analytics - and payment processing only if fees are ever introduced), under confidentiality obligations;
• authorities or third parties where required or permitted by law, or to protect our rights, members or the public.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers (for example, cloud hosting) may store or process data outside Australia. Where this happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Cookies and analytics

We may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and understand usage. This may include analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; some features may not work without them.

8. How we store and protect it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access - including hashing passwords and access controls. No system is completely secure; you are responsible for keeping your login confidential. We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it.

9. Accessing, correcting and deleting your information

• You can access and update most of your information in your profile at any time.
• To request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold, contact us (below). We will respond within a reasonable time; if we decline, we will tell you why.
• You can ask us to delete your account at any time and we will do so within 30 days. Backups are overwritten on a rolling cycle, and messages you have already sent to other members may remain visible to them.

10. Data breaches

If a data breach likely to cause serious harm occurs, we will respond in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Each version carries a version number and date, and the current version is always on this page. For any material change we will give notice on this website, by email, or both.
